Feelin' hot, hot, HOT!

It's 28 degrees today in T.O. And with the humidity it feels like 34. I'm not complaining at all. Bring it on!
You will need a lot of shade, though. But since you can't keep walking under trees and I know that umbrella is too annoying to carry everywhere you go, and frankly, you end up looking like a tourist with it, bring a hat! It's versatile, keeps you [somewhat] cool in the sun AND it spices up your outfit.

Peep this:

Have an even funkier hat? Send me some pics!

Romp Around

This is a romper I made last summer:

You like that eh?

Summer has FINALLY graced us with its presence.
Besides the lemonade sipping, ice cream scooping and sky high sun, rompers and jumpers mesmerize me. They're super stylish (and super comfy!) and it looks like they're pretty much taking over the world. No, really, they are. You can find them in all kinds of different styles and fabrics: short sleeved, no sleeves, strappy or tube-y, short shorts or lengthy, harem trouser, lacy, printed....sigh....love it.
They're great for everyday wear or night time fun. Wear them with your kicks or pumps. Throw on a denim jacket over it, or dress it up with a cornucopia of beaded necklaces. Do what you like!

80's babies

Let’s go puffy sleeves! ...and ruffles, and studs, and leotards – or all together… Hey, why not?
The 80’s are always around in my eyes. Ah, my favourite era. Batwing jackets and stonewashed jeans.
Recently, the 80's are being reinvented to the fullest. Distinctively structured details on garments are exaggerated to make pieces look futuristic, but still old school. What a hot combo. And supersize my shoulder pads, please. Thanks!
Dig out mom’s (or auntie’s or cousin’s) old clothes and start modernizing them. Someone HAS to have clothes from the 80’s kicking around. If all else fails, call up a hoarder. *wink*
Play with fabrics. Add or take away whatever you have to until the desired look is achieved. Browse through magazines. Mix it up with some 90's clothes. Then, run back to your sewing room and apply what you have absorbed into recreating an oldie into a goodie... or a newbie? ...you know what I mean.

Look what I found:

Bill Cunningham New York: movie review

Bill Cunningham is the biggest inspiration. Well, at least I was inspired. I don't see how you can't be after watching this film.
This man is so real, it's amazing. He lives a simple life and does what he loves. He's living the dream.
He's not influenced by anyone and doesn't care what anyone says. He does what he wants. And I think that's almost impossible for most people in fashion. Like he talks about in the movie, there aren't a lot of 'rarities' anymore. Everything has been done. Finding that odd ball on the street who is dressed up is something so bold and daring is like finding a pot of gold. People who have their own style and don't follow trends are hard to come by. But it's so refreshing when you do find them, isn't it? They're real artists and have a wonderful spirit about them. They're not afraid to show their true colours, literally. This is what Bill captures in his photographs.

You'll love Bill Cunningham. I promise.
Go see it.

Thanks, Elizabeth.
